Cherie Barnes, MS, RD, LDN

Registered Dietitian/Health Coach

Cherie is a Licensed Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist with over two decades of clinical trial research experience. Her clinical nutrition interests are focused on cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome and their relationship to neurobiology. She is excited about working with the Duke Digital Health team since she gets to help people one-on-one with their nutrition goals while also helping develop digital health tools that can be leveraged to improve public health on a large scale. She also loves combining her passion for nutrition, cooking and medicine with her geeky tech background.

Cherie earned a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University. She earned a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and completed her clinical nutrition internship at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where her research focus was Nutrition Neuroscience. She loves gardening, visiting farmers’ markets and experimenting with new foods and recipes.

Favorite TV guilty pleasure: Anything on Food Network (especially Chopped and Guy’s Grocery Games) and American Ninja Warrior
